Saturday's are for the DIYers, and this week's DIY tip is all about repairing squeaky doors using WD-40. Squeaky doors can be annoying, but the fix is quick and easy. Here's what you'll need:

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Lay down your drop cloth to protect the floor from any drips or spills. This will save you from having to clean up later and protect your flooring.

  2. Apply WD-40: Spray the WD-40 on and around all of the door hinges. I prefer using the cans with the flexible straw attachment. It makes it easy to coat the hinges thoroughly and is overall less messy than other types of cans.

  3. Work the Lubricant In: Open and close the door a few times to work the lubricant into the hinges. This helps ensure that the WD-40 penetrates all the moving parts and effectively reduces the squeaking.

  4. Clean Up: Make sure to wipe away any excess WD-40 with a rag. Clean up any drips that may have landed on the door or floor. This step is crucial to prevent any potential slipping hazards and to keep your door looking clean.

And that's it! In just a few simple steps, you've eliminated that annoying squeak, and your door should now open and close smoothly.
